Celebrity Bankruptcies: King of Conversation
Debt
Even if you don’t necessarily recognize the name ‘Larry King’, you would probably recognize a photo of the elderly talk show host in his famous suspenders. Despite the fact that he retired from a 25 year stint on CNN, he’s actually still working; hosting his own podcast and web series where - you guessed it – he interviews celebrities.
King practically pioneered the idea of the one-on-one celebrity interview. What made him stand out from others like Johnny Carson and the like was the fact that he would sit with a celebrity for an hour and they would discuss all manner of things that you might not see on any of the standard late night talk shows.
King is a legend, not only for his work on television, but radio as well. His radio show was essentially just him talking about whatever issues he felt were important that day. That show began in Miami, and before long expanded to national coverage. When the late 80’s rolled around, CNN offered him a job as a broadcast news journalist. His response was to pitch the idea for the interview show, and “Larry King Live” was born. The rest is television history.
But why are we talking about Larry King’s successes? Largely because he wasn’t always a success, and in 1978, King had to file for bankruptcy after several radio jobs did not pan out, and he had spent his money irresponsibly. This is a claim he owns up to himself, and always gives advice on how to be thrifty, even if you have a well-paying job but have not been at it for long.
King had racked up more than $350,000 of debt which he was in no position to pay off. But again, it was 1978. He was still looking ahead to the greatest success of his life and becoming one of the most well-known TV personalities in history.
The point we’re making is that you never know what will be around the corner. Financial difficulties, even bankruptcy, are not the end. King is just one example of someone who found themselves in debt, but the key difference here is that while others may have made bad investments, King (by his own admission) did not spend his money wisely, nor did he use his credit responsibly. Of course, this is not the key to success, and in no way are we suggesting you take the same course of action.
What we are suggesting is that if you find yourself in a similar situation, do not lose hope. Life can come at you with some pretty difficult situations, and it can dump success in your lap when you least expect it.
So whatever financial situation you are in, come see us at CASH 1 and find out if short term loans for poor credit or fast title loans can help get you out of your difficulties or at the very least make things a little easier until your situation improves. After all, you never know what’s going to happen next.
